Grovetown, GA – Charles Louis Gardner, age 88, loving husband of 40 years to B. Jeanette Gardner, entered into rest surrounded by family on Thursday, May 25, 2017.

Family members in addition to his wife, include daughters: Debbie Curry and late husband, Buddy, Robin Hayden and husband, Brian; and step-son: George (Rick) Easler, and wife Linda.

He was preceded in death by Gerri Joyce Gardner, the mother of their deceased infant son and two surviving daughters, parents, Luke and Ora Lee Gardner of Crossett, Arkansas, three brothers, four sisters, and step-son, Jay Eric Easler.

Charles and Jeannette had a combined number of eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and treasured friends whom he loved dearly.

Charles started his career in the paper mill at Georgetown, SC, and moved to Augusta when Continental Can opened its plant here. He continued his career at the Augusta plant which later became International Paper and retired after 33 years of service as a millwright.

He has been a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church for 36 years and served as Training Union Director, SS Teacher for the young, teenagers, and adults. He was honored to serve as an usher for many years. He loved his church family with a very strong compassionate love.

The family wishes to thank Affinis Hospice for their compassionate care.

A visitation will be Sunday, May 28, 2017 from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Trinity Baptist Church. A service will follow immediately. Pallbearers are Rick Bean, Kyle Phillips, Greg Slagle, Rick Slagle, Perry Thomas and Joe Woods. Honorary pallbearers are members of Donnie Bartles Sunday School class. Pastor Matthew Moore, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, and Dr. K.C. Stevens, retired pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund or The Alex Moore Medical Fund in care of Trinity Baptist Church in memory of Charles L. Gardner.
