Augusta, GA – Entered into rest peacefully at the residence with family by his side on Saturday, September 30, 2017; Mr. David E. McCoy, 85, loving husband to Hilde McCoy for 57 years.
Mr. McCoy was a native of Parkersburg, WV. He joined the military at a young age to help support his family and he proudly served 21 years in the United States Army, serving 4 tours in Korea, as well as Hawaii, Texas, Germany, Oklahoma and Georgia. After retirement, he began a 22 year career with the Richmond County Correctional Institution. Mr. McCoy enjoyed wood working and making furniture for his family. He raised two wonderful sons.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his sons: David A. McCoy (Terry Shier) and Thomas F. McCoy (Tina); grandson: Forrest McCoy (Alisha); brothers: Ray McCoy, Larry McCoy, Gary McCoy, and Gay McCoy; and sister: Louise McCoy. He is preceded in death by his parents: Doy and Colleen McCoy; and brothers: Orville McCoy, Doy McCoy, and Roy McCoy.
A funeral Mass will be Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Van Alstine celebrant. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401 or to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd, Augusta, GA 30909.
