Duane R. “Chris” Christenson

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, December 19, 2017, PSG (Ret) Duane R. “Chris” Christenson, 84, loving husband of Marie Christenson.

Mr. Christenson was born and raised in Superior, WI. He retired from the United States Army after 22 years as a Platoon Sergeant. Residing in Augusta, he received an Associate’s Degree from Georgia Military College in Criminal Justice and worked for the Augusta Police Department for over 20 years and briefly for the Richmond County Sheriff’s Department after consolidation. He was a devoted member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, serving as an Elder, advisor on the Health Cabinet and was a charter member of the Men’s Breakfast Bible Study. While serving as an Elder, he was instrumental in caring for those in need. In addition, he was part of the Waynesboro Masonic Lodge, VFW Lodge 649, and American Legion Post 205.

Family members, in addition to his wife, include son: Eugene Toro Christenson; daughters: Nancy Christenson, Rolandine Christenson; three grandchildren; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents: Roland and Gladys Christenson; and a brother: James Christenson and daughter: Susan.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Schwartz officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded following the Church service. Burial will be at a later date at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA.

The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 P.M. at the Church.
