George William "Bill" Heubel Jr.

George William “Bill” Heubel, Jr.
Augusta, Ga - Bill, a native son of Augusta, Ga, age 65, moved on peacefully Monday, January 8, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife: Karla Brown; daughter: Heather (Brent) Winner of Hampton, GA; two grandchildren: Jeremy and Adalynn; and his only son: George III, of Newnan, GA.
Bill was well known to have invented the two-horsepower pencil sharpener which is unnecessary but impressive none the less. In addition to spending his time being a loving father, husband, and friend, he searched fervently for the perfect sausage dog, which apparently originates from Alabama. Though college educated (Augusta College), his highest level of education occurred at an early age when he memorized every card in the game Trivial Pursuit in efforts to beat his sister; no one was ever to beat him again. A deep philosopher, he was usually able to prove most points by referencing Star Wars or The Godfather. He was well known for extensive debates with fence posts that were often in agreement with him. Bill lived a full life and his many quips, quotes, opinions, and improvised songs and raps will be dearly missed.
Bill was passionately involved with historical research and support for the Augusta Canal. The family requests that donations be made to the Augusta Canal Keepers Society in lieu of flowers (706-823-0440, ext. 8).
Services will be held at the Thomas Poteet & Son, Saturday, January 13th. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 P.M. Following the service, the family and any close friends who wish to join will proceed to Magnolia Cemetery for a final good-bye. Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484. Please sign the guestbook at www.thomaspoteet.com
