Augusta, Ga - On February 25th, Julie Elizabeth Orwen (Barron), 59, passed away following a long battle with cancer. Julie was a loving Mother, Daughter and Sister, who despite her prognosis remained hopeful and always displayed a joy for life.

Julie was born, December 11, 1958, in Cottonport, Louisiana to Paul Floyd Barron Sr. and JoAnn Ruth Barron (Hughes). Born into a military family (Paul Sr, a 30 year military veteran), Julie traveled from Cottonport to Fort Reily Kansas, Munich Germany, Augusta Georgia, Killeen Texas, Rabat Morocco, then returned to Cottonport (Fort Polk Military Base) where Julie graduated from Cottonport High School in 1976.

Julie was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, graduated in 1984 from Paris Island Marine Corps Boot camp and served our nation proudly for 6 years, as an Electrician on the FA-18 Fighter Jet out of Jacksonville Naval Air Station, and rose to the rank of E-4 (Corporal).

In 1999, Julie began working at Augusta Regional Airport, where she was an Administrative Manager and played a role in the construction and opening of the new airport terminal in 2008. Julie was very proud of her work at the Augusta Regional Airport and proud of the wonderful family of friends who she worked with, and who enriched her life.

Julie is survived by her daughter: Megan Esther Orwen, brothers: Paul Floyd Barron Jr., Duane Patrick Barron, Sean Michael Barron and sister: Michelle Rene Pepper. Julie was preceded in death by her son: Justin Robert Orwen, Mother: JoAnn Ruth Barron and Father: Paul Floyd Barron Sr.

A Memorial Service will be held for Julie on Saturday, March 10th, 2018 at Thomas Poteet & Son. The family will accept visitors starting at 10:30 AM with the Memorial Service starting at 11 AM.
