Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, June 22, 2017, Mrs. Lois Bartley Brooks, 86. Mrs. Brooks was the daughter of the late James L. Bartley and Adele Stringer Bartley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother: James L. Bartley, Jr.; sister: Rita Bartley Walker; and an infant son: James Alexander Brooks.

Mrs. Brooks was a native Augustan and graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy, attended Augusta Junior College and retired from the Augusta-Richmond County Engineering/Public Works Department. She was a woman of deep faith and loved her family. Mrs. Brooks was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church and enjoyed the Senior Luncheons and faithfully attended daily mass. She was also a member of the Alter Society, Catholic Social Services and the Irish/American Society. Mrs. Brooks also liked to attend Alumni and Friends activities of Aquinas High School.

Family members include her daughters: Rita “Rhea” B. Morgan, Frances B. “Fran” Brooks, Jacquelyn A. “Jackie” Brooks and Mary Paulos “Paula” B. May and husband Charles; grandchildren: Cecelia Adele “Cece” Morgan, Frances Ann Morgan, Herbert Lenwood “Bert” Morgan, Jessica Anne Rogers, James Alexander “Alex” Rogers, Charles Andrew May, Edwin Brooks May; nephew: James Bartley; and cousin: Loretta Kearns Burke.

A Mass of Resurrection will be Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill with Rev. Gerald P. Ragan officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Westover Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Catholic Social Services, 2108 Broad Street, Augusta, GA 30904 or to Aquinas High School, 1920 Highland Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904.

The family will receive friends Saturday prior to the service beginning at 10:30 A.M. in the church narthex.
