Entered into rest Wednesday, March14th, The Right Reverend Lucien D. Lindsey, Jr, (80), husband of Jeanne Lindsey for 56 years.

Family members include: Gregory Lindsey (Michelle Molen), Mary Lindsey Painter (Samuel Painter), Michael Lindsey (Dianna Ringel) and John Lindsey (Devon Ensor). Grandchildren by Gregory: Ashley Lindsey Marsh (Christopher Marsh), Thomas, Keisha, Shaun, Haley, and Faith Lindsey; Grandchildren by Mary: Lindsey, David, Christena, Virginia, and George Painter; Grandchildren by Mike: Emma, Julianna, Molly, and Owen Lindsey; Grandchildren by John: Maura, Erin, Daisy and James Lindsey; and Great grandchildren Henry, Elizabeth, and Charlotte.

He is also survived by siblings: Carolyn Lindsey Kinslow (John), Marilyn Lindsey Ulmer (Philip), Allen Lindsey (Laurie) and Roger Lindsey (Patti). He is preceded in death by his parents Lucien D. Lindsey Sr. and Delores Carolyn Lindsey and two brothers: David Lindsey and Rev. Barrett Lindsey (Barbara).

An ecumenical Celebration of Life will be Sunday, March 18 at 7 PM Alleluia Community School, Peach Orchard Rd., Augusta, GA All are invited as one in the Body of Christ to worship our God and King. Funeral Mass will be Monday, March 19 at 10 AM at St Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Most Reverend Gregory J Hartmayer, Bishop of Savannah, Officiating, Reverend Gerald P. Ragan, Homilist, and Vicar General Timothy Perkins from the Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter. Interment will follow at Alleluia Community Cemetery on Lucky’s Bridge Rd, Dearing GA, Reverend Jacob Almeter, Officiating.

Father Lindsey graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Oklahoma University and a Master’s in Divinity from Seabury Western Seminary. He was ordained a deacon and a priest in the Episcopal Church on December 11, 1963. He served many churches in Oklahoma and was pastor in charge of race relations in the Episcopal diocese of Oklahoma. He served Native Americans in Chicago through Saint Augustine’s Center for American Indians for over ten years. His family moved to Augusta to become lifetime members of The Alleluia Community in 1976. He served as priest at St Alban’s and planted the Church of the Atonement, Episcopal churches in Augusta. He served as priest at All Saints Anglican in Aiken, South Carolina and Church of the Holy Spirit, Grovetown, Georgia. Consecrated as Bishop in the Anglican church, he ministered nationwide for 10 years from Holy Cross Church in Franklin, Tennessee. On the 50th anniversary of his initial priestly ordination, he was ordained a Catholic priest under Pope Benedicts invitation to Anglicans to become united with the Catholic Church. His final service to the Church was as Parochial Vicar at St Mary on the Hill for the four years prior to his death. Having a heart for unity in the Body of Christ, “Father Lou” served as spiritual director for various renewal and youth ministries. Most notable is in establishing Kairos prison ministry in the State of Georgia.
