Augusta, GA – Mrs. Sarah Holley Gay, 91, of Augusta and beloved wife of 71 years to Mr. Arthur J. Gay, Sr., passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017.

Sarah was born in 1925 in Wrens, GA to the late Jasper Lee and Mary Johnson Holley. She was a graduate of Wrens High School and a member of Central Church of Christ in Augusta. Sarah was a native and longtime resident of the Augusta area. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Norton of Hephzibah, GA.

Family members, in addition to her husband, include her two sons: Arthur “Sonny” J. Gay, Jr. (Deborah) and Gary Gay, both of Augusta; daughters: Delores Toney (Laddie) of Dalton, GA, Linda Ivey (Jimmy) of Harlem, GA; five brothers: Clarence (Nell) Holley, Robert (Ruby) Holley, Lamar (Bonnie) Holley, David Holley, and Tony Holley; four sisters: Annie Anderson, Gloria Jones, Janette (W.J.) Perdue, and Shirley (Artemus) Reese; five grandchildren: Trey (Elisabeth) Gay, Todd (Melanie) Gay, Jimmy (Amanda) Ivey, Hannah (Richard) Matthews, and Heidi (Kenny) Asterita; and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 17, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Minister Scott Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Central Church of Christ, 3650 River Watch Pkwy, Augusta, GA 30907, or to Heartland Hospice, 153 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907.
