Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, Alexander Lee Dexter, 22 months.


Family members include his parents: Erin and Chris Dexter; siblings: Liam, Charlie, Ethan, and Matthew Dexter; maternal grandparents: Alan Reif and the late Amiee Reif; paternal grandparents: Mary Jane and Donald Dexter; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Alex was born in Augusta, Georgia on October 9, 2018 to Erin and Chris Dexter and was welcomed home by his four older siblings. He is remembered by his siblings for his love of family, dancing to his favorite songs, blowing bubbles, playing Batman, and eating macaroni and cheese for every meal. He enjoyed working out alongside Dad and snuggling with Mom. Alex had bright blue eyes and a smile that would light up any room. His contagious laugh will always be a treasured memory. Alex had the strength and spirit of a superhero which kept him smiling, dancing, and loving life throughout his battle with Neuroblastoma, which began on August 29, 2019.

The Dexter family graciously thanks the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, and specifically the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology group who provided compassionate care to Alex and support to their family over the last year.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at 12:30 p.m. at St Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Ross celebrant. Committal will follow in St. Mary’s columbarium. The Dexter family will receive guests in the narthex of St. Mary’s following the service.
