Andy Martin

Thomas Andrew (Andy) Martin (90) entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 18, 2021. Born in Gaffney, SC, on April 23, 1930, to Almon Bert Martin and Jeannette Bonner Martin, he was a devoted husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lena Vinesett Martin, whom he met at age 13 and soon advised his father that he was “going to marry that girl someday”. He was the proud parent of three children, all of whom survive him: Cary Long (Ellen) of Baxley, Ga., Steven Andrew (Sharon) of Mauldin, S.C., and Suzy Dekle of Augusta. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Marti England (Leif), Marcus Long (Jena), John Martin (Brittany), Alicia Keller, Thomas Wesley Martin (Candace), Joshua J. Martin (Ashleigh), LeAnne Morlan (Paul), Kati Browning (Daniel), as well as 17 great-grandchildren and four sisters: Edie Rodgers, Gail Williams, Sandra Dawson, and Barbara Harper Warriner.

Andy was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and served in Korea during the conflict in the early 50’s. He was a project manager at Regal for many years, and a self-made man whose primary interest was real estate investments.

A private graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 26th, at 2:00 at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Floyd Harrison officiating. Pandemic restrictions will apply.
