Audrey J. Fisher

Audrey Johnson Fisher, 98, entered her eternal rest peacefully after a short illness. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family born on October 18, 1920 in Pittsburgh, PA. Her family moved to Asheville, NC, when she was seven years-old. She was educated at St. Genevieve-of-the Pines School for Girls and the Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, NC. In 1941, she married Robert Stewart Fisher of Cincinnati, OH, who preceded her in death in 2002. The couple had three children, John F. Fisher (Peggy) of Augusta, R. Stewart Fisher (Yolanda) of Camarillo, CA, and Marian Fisher (Bill) Kunz of Hampton, VA. She moved to Augusta in 1998 to be near six of her 10 grandchildren and became a faithful member of St. Mary on the Hill parish.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas Johnson, Mary (Bracken) Johnson and by her brother, J. Bracken Johnson, and five sisters, Mary Louise (Johnson) Kilkeary, Ruth (Johnson) Macdonald, Martha (Johnson) Anderson, Sara (Johnson, Nicholson) Ashcraft, Marjorie Jane (Johnson) Peart, and a great grandson, Jeremy Stewart Cranford. She is survived by her three children, 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family is greatly indebted to the staff of Kentwood Extended Care for their vigilant and compassionate attention to her comfort and wellbeing during her more than two years of residence there.

A graveside service will be held at a future date at Belmont Abbey College, Belmont, NC.
