Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, February 5, 2022, Mr. August Ruiz, 90, loving husband of the late Hatsuko “Peggy” Ruiz. Gus was born and raised in Hawaii. After high school he joined the Army and traveled to Japan, Korea, Germany, Texas and retired in Augusta, Georgia. Gus loved sports, coaching baseball and refereeing games and teaching judo. Gus later joined his daughter in Magnolia, Texas, traveled a bit more until he settled down to enjoy the countryside. Family members include daughters: Christine Jones (Steven) of Augusta, GA and Darlene Ruiz Ardoin of Magnolia, TX; sons: August Ruiz, Jr. (Laura) of Sebastian, FL and Daniel Ruiz Katy, TX; and 5 grandchildren: Garrett Jones, August James Ruiz, Alex Ruiz, Allison Ruiz, and Aaron Ruiz. A graveside service will be held Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Deacon Ken Maleck celebrating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M., at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
