Willie Benjamin “Benny” Dukes, Sr.

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, Mr. Willie Benjamin “Benny” Dukes, Sr., 82, husband of Christine Deas Dukes.

Benny was born on October 31, 1939, in Augusta, GA to the late Henry Calhoun and Nannie Sue Dukes. Benny grew up in Augusta, GA and attended Boys Catholic High and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1958. After graduation he worked at Continental Can until an opportunity presented itself in 1972 to work with his brother, Henry, in The Wife Saver restaurants. Benny owned and operated the Washington Road Wife Saver until his retirement in 2012. In 1961, Benny married and is survived by the love of his life, Christine Dukes. They celebrated 61 years of marriage in February of this year and have enjoyed many travel adventures to Europe and Las Vegas.

He is also survived by his four children: Jamie (Cindy) Dukes, Lanier Dukes, Allen (Sharon) Dukes, and Bryan (Christine) Dukes. Eight grandchildren: Ben (Lauren) Dukes, Alyson (Taylor) Lamb, Phillip (McKenzie) Dukes, Lanie Dukes, Emily and Joshua Dukes, and Will and Kate Dukes. Six great-grandchildren: Covington, Beau and Wells Dukes, Henry and Emma Lamb, and Carter Dukes. Benny is also survived by his brother: Henry (Paula) Dukes and brothers-in-law: Steve (Cindy) Deas, Mike (Jeannette) Deas, Kenny (Joy) Deas, goddaughter: Stephanie (Daniel) Uter and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors. A graveside service will be held at Westover Memorial Park on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 11:00 A.M.

The family would like to thank ProMedica Hospice, Dr. Danny Newman, and Dr. Bleakley Chandler for the compassionate care they gave Benny.
