Bernard Eugene Boles (Gene)

Mr. Gene Boles went home to be with the Lord on January 7, 2022, at Doctors Hospital. Gene was born in Augusta on August 16, 1934, where he resided his entire life. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary McNulty Boles and his two daughters Stacey Boles Meyer (Jeff) and Darby Boles Finley (John). He was Papa to four beautiful grandchildren: Courtlyn Meyer, Johnny (Tripp) V. Finley III, Meredith Finley, and Pierce Finley.

Before he married, Gene was in the navy for four years. He then went on to be a civil engineer with the GA Dept. of Transportation for thirty years. Gene was an avid Georgia football fan and never missed either attending or watching a game. In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing flying airplanes and hunting. His two hunting partners were his bird dogs, boots and Pete. Gene also enjoyed traveling to the Smoky Mountains every fall to see the leaves change colors. Mr. Boles Was a faithful member of Abilene Baptist Church where he loved to usher for all the services.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Brad Whitt and Dr. Josh Lancaster officiating. The service will be held at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cornelia DeLange Syndrome Foundation, 30 Tower Lane #400 Avon, CT 06001.
