Bert was born and raised in Augusta, Ga and was a seventh generation Augustan. He was a graduate of both Richmond Academy and Georgia Tech. While at Tech he was a member of the Ramblin Wreck Club, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, was a walk-on member of the 1972 Freshman football team, and a walk-on member of the 1974 Fall Golf Team. Shortly after graduation Bert returned to Augusta and was involved in several organizations over the past 50 years, including the Rotary Club of Augusta in which he was a Paul Harris Fellow as well as the Beach Island Agricultural Club. He was heavily involved in the Augusta Georgia Tech Club as an officer for 16 years and was president for 2 years. The club won several alumni association competitions during his terms for gift giving and club participation. Bert loved golf and during his nearly fifty years as a member of Augusta Country Club, he was both a champion of the member/member and the member/guest championships. He had 2 hole-in-ones in his golf career and he had the opportunity to play over a dozen times in Scotland and Mexico, in addition to over 160 great American courses. He was an avid sport shooter and was a member of Pinetucky Gun Club and Ft. Gordon Shooting Sports Complex.

Bert greatly enjoyed his career as an entrepreneur, and was affiliated with the Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, and National Pest Management Associations. He served as chair of 2 major conferences in his industry and on the advisory board of leadership of the PCA, having been an inaugural member.

Mainly, Bert loved his children, Lauren and Drew, and all their activities. He was an “adopted” USC Gamecock and Augusta State Jaguar, and would always trumpet their successes in their academics, athletics, and eventually their careers. He loved to travel and see them but would quickly tell you it was never often enough to suit him. Bert was a wonderful “G-Pop” to his two grandchildren, Isabelle and Jack Andrews.

Lastly, Bert spent over 21 years with his fiancé, Debbie, his “baby doll”. He was truly happy every moment he spent with her and loved building a lifetime of memories and unforgettable moments with who he would frequently refer to as the love of his life. Bert never met a stranger and will be truly missed in the Augusta and greater CSRA community.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother: Jeff Hall and is survived by his Fiancé: Debbie McRae; son: Drew Hall (Lindsay); daughter: Lauren Writer (Emily); “Adopted” children: Amy Natoli (Derrick) and Allen McRae; grandchildren: Isabelle Hall and Jack Andrews Hall; brothers: Ernie Sizemore (Allison), Eddie Sizemore (Sheridan); sister: Susan Boone (Peyton Terry) and many nieces and nephews.
