Billy G. Johnson, Sr.

Mr. Billy Gene Johnson, Sr., 89 entered into rest Monday, October 4, 2021, at home surrounded by his family.

Billy was the youngest son of 12 children born to the late Claude and Nettie Johnson. He was a charter member of Grace Fellowship of Augusta for 46 years, served in the US Army for 20 years before retiring and then retired from Kimberly Clark after 26 years. Billy was the devoted husband to Juanita Ward Johnson for 66 years, a loving father and Papa. He was also known as the church “Candy Man” which he loved.

Family members in addition to his wife include his children: Cindy Johnson Taylor (Charles), the late Glenda Johnson Brown (Ronnie), Billy G. Johnson, Jr. (Cecilia) and Tina Johnson Bishop (Chad); grandchildren: Doug, Crystal, Kevin, Bobby, April, Ashley, Emily, Levi, Lydia, Jeremiah, Ashley; great grandchildren: Felicity, Rio, Trevyr, Trinity, Harrison, Madison, Zackary, Elliott, Hattie, Ruthie, Chancey, Presley, Tinley and Darcey and many loving nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at Grace Fellowship of Augusta with Pastor Brian Fields and Pastor Wade Trimmer officiating. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons Doug Thompson, Kevin Taylor, Bobby Taylor, Levi Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, Trevyr Carlson and Harrison McBride.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to Grace Fellowship of Augusta, 1725 Sibley Road, Augusta, GA 30909.
