Appling, GA – Mr. Billy Marion Snellings, 77, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at his home.

Billy was a longtime resident of Appling. Billy served in the Marine Corp from 1965 until 1971. He then worked for Pollard Lumber Company for over 30 years before retiring. Billy enjoyed war documentaries and westerns, horses and dancing, was an avid gardener and hunter, he never met a stranger and always had a delightful story to tell. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Billy was a loving and generous person who loved his family, friends and home. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Family members include his daughter: Joy (Roy) Newman; grandchildren: Brooke Hinton, Brandon (Aliya) Baldwin, Jordan (Megan) Newman, Heather (Jason) Turner; great grandchildren: Aaron and Wesley Hinton, Courtlyn and Brantley Baldwin, Brady and Bryce Newman and Kaylee Turner; and sister: Joyce Williams. He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Hazel Snellings; parents: Willie “Bill” and Mary Snellings; daughter: Lynne Hawkins; great grandson: Colton Baldwin and sisters: Barbara Ann Gay and Emily Gay.

A memorial service will be Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. The family will receive friends prior to the service Tuesday from 1:30 until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers who took such great care of Billy.
