Dr. Caren Chaknis

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, August 28, 2017, Caren Chaknis.

Caren Chaknis was born in Pasadena, CA and was a longtime resident of the Augusta area. She was a University of Georgia honors graduate, a MENSA Scholar, an Anesthesia Faculty Member at Augusta University Medical School (MCG), before joining the University Hospital. She was an avid athlete and enjoyed cycling as well as running. Dr. Chaknis was very involved in her children’s sporting events and was a loving and devoted mother, daughter, sister and aunt.

Family members include her sons: John Chaknis, Anthony Chaknis; daughters: Eleni Chaknis, Maria Chaknis; mother: Susan Hubbard; brother: Andrew Cocks; sister: Cristen Hampton; and fiancé: Henry Whisenhunt.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Oakland University Scholarship Fund, 318 Meadow Brook Road, Rochester, Michigan 48309 in recognition of her mother, a member of the Charter Class of 1963.
