Clair Ann Gladue

Augusta, GA – Clair Ann Gladue, 57, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at Doctor’s Hospital.

Family will receive friends at Thomas Poteet & Son on Friday, June 26, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. for a visitation/prayer circle. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 10:00 A.M., at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Greg Porterfield officiating. Friends are welcome to share memories at the prayer circle.

Mrs. Gladue was the daughter of the late Mr. Robert E. Barron, Jr. and Nancy Rossell Barron; granddaughter: of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Barron, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Rossell; sister: of the late Robert E. Barron, III. Survivors include: (her husband of 24 years, Allen W. Gladue); brother: Raymond E. Barron; godmother: Elaine C. Scott; cousins: Jane Rossell Justice, Amy Rossell Roy (Billy); and best friends: Schlena Bussell Davis, Tammy Mechelle Goddard, Susan Platt Hardy, Paige Mims Korb, Glenda Buchanan McLellan and Dana Cross Totka. Special thanks to her best friend, Schlena Bussell Davis for her loyalty and lifetime friendship, Catherine Hayes Jones for her continued help with care and companionship, Dana Cross Totka for help with care, companionship and willingness to go above and beyond to ensure that Mrs. Gladue’s needs were met, Susan Brega and Rick Folk for bringing food and necessities during Mrs. Gladue’s convalescence, Rhonda Oglesby for her lifelong love and care, and Raymond E. Barron for his compassion and love.

Clair was known to many as “Sissy” meaning sister. She loved her friends immensely and viewed them as sisters and brothers. Mike Harbuck and Donn Mershan were two of her dearest friends as well and she appreciated every act of kindness and protection offered on her behalf. She enjoyed time with her friends, playing tennis, swimming at “Clark’s Hill” and her friend’s lake house, reading and crafts. She advocated for individuals with special needs such as developmental disabilities and individuals with pancreatic cancer. Mrs. Gladue was a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia where she received both her undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) and her graduate degree (Masters in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner) certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Ms. Gladue practiced at Augusta University as a Family Nurse Practitioner before receiving her Auto Islet Transplant at the Medical University of South Carolina following pancreas and spleen removal. During her career at Augusta University she practiced under her beloved Medical Director, Dr. Terri Lawless. Dr. Lawless shared her passion for providing care to the developmentally challenged individuals served at Gracewood.

Mrs. Gladue was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. In 2006 she was a recipient of the MCG Presidential choice award, The Donna M. Fair Scholarly award, The Emily Flander’s Honor Award, and the Alumni Award for most Scholarly paper.
