David H. Mottern

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Monday, September 12, 2022, David Hoyle Mottern, 58, loving husband of Mrs. Lori Ash Mottern.

David was born in Tennessee but lived most of his life in the Evans and Augusta area. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, a member of First Christian Church on Greene Street where he served as a Deacon. David courageously fought leukemia for many years. He formerly worked for University Hospital in engineering. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was an avid Tennessee Vols fan and enjoyed golfing and motorcycles in his spare time.

Family members include his wife Lori, his daughters: Andrea Mottern and Brittany Curry (Chris); stepdaughters: Kayla Prater (Mark) and Ashley Garland (Spencer); four granddaughters and one grandson; his mother: Billie Jo Hayase; siblings: Lee Mottern, Charles Mottern (Darlene), Thomas Mottern, Leesa Mottern and his lifelong best friend, Jay Garmany.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Tennessee at Mountain Home National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
