Edward D. Allen

April 12, 1947 - June 15, 2022

Martinez, GA – Edward "Ed" Dicks Allen entered his eternal home in the presence of His Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born in Richmond County, Georgia, and graduated from Richmond Academy in 1965. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy in 1971. He was a pharmacist at University Hospital for 35 years until his retirement in 2012. In addition to his pharmaceutical career, Ed was an avid reader and focused on daily Bible study and made this a priority in his life. In addition to reading, he enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing, traveling, mountain adventures, and was an enthusiast of the beauty of art. He was a member of Warren Baptist Church, and member of the Mike Nelson Sunday School Class. Ed exhibited a spirit of gracious hospitality at his home, along with his devoted wife, Joan Hart Allen. In addition to his wife, Joan Hart Allen, Ed is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Roberts (Whit) Yelton, and his grandson, Wilder Yelton of Milton, Georgia. Remaining survivors are nephews Clark (Stephanie) Allen, Wesley Allen, sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Lamb, Becky (Mike) Carpenter, Brenda (Darron) Starling and a host of nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Joe Clark Allen and Leona Dicks Allen, and his brother, Joe C. Allen, Jr., M.D. Ed will be remembered as a man of great knowledge, compassion, dignity, and a loyal and tender hearted man whose character was based on his relationship with Jesus Christ. Memorial contributions may be made to Warren Baptist Church or charitable organizations of choice. Visitation will begin on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Warren Baptist Church followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 P.M. with Dr. John Bryan officiating. Interment will precede the church service and take place on Saturday morning at 10:00AM at Johnson United Methodist Church, Warrenton-Gibson Highway, Warrenton, Georgia.
