Edward Joseph Holmes

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest at his residence on Thursday, August 5, 2021, Edward Joseph Holmes, age 73. Ed was a native of Augusta and a 1966 graduate of Aquinas High School. After serving in active combat with the Americal Infantry Division in Vietnam from 1969-1970; Ed graduated from Georgia Southwestern College. Ed was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Patrick Walsh Council and past Grand Knight as well as a 4th Degree member. He was also a member of the Irish American Heritage Society, where he served as Grand Marshal of the 2018 Saint Patrick's Day Parade. Family members include his sisters: Margaret H. Kasper (Paul), and Jane H. Cason (Chuck), several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Margaret Holmes and brothers, Henry Holmes and Larkin Holmes. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
