Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, March 17, 2017, Mrs. Elizabeth Murphy Kimberly, 93, wife of James H. Kimberly.
Mrs. Kimberly was a native Augustan. She worked at the Medical College of Georgia for 9 years and retired from Georgia Regional Hospital after 20 years of service as Director of Environmental Services. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and was former President of The Chapter of Executive Housekeepers of the CSRA. Mrs. Kimberly lived at St. John Towers for 8 years where she also volunteered. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew her.
Family members, in addition to her husband, include her son: Carl Murphy, Jr. (Susan) of Palm Coast, FL, daughters: Gail Sheppard (Milton) of Thomson, GA, Carla Hendrix (Rocky) of Hephzibah, Ashleigh Mariani (Mario) of Orlando, FL, and Wanda Warner of Augusta;12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband of 52 years, Carl Murphy, Sr., who was the love of her life.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 20, 2017 at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with her son Reverend Carl E. Murphy, Jr. and grandson Reverend Heath Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Bert Boatright, Wallace Holden, Scott Taylor, Brian Holden, Randall Boatright, Evan Murphy, and Patrick Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be the Women’s Ministry of First Assembly of God Church.
