Freda Siptroth Joyce

February 1, 1927 - April 15, 2022

Evans, GA – Freda Siptroth Joyce, 95, passed peacefully to her heavenly home on April 15, 2022. Freda was born on February 1, 1927, in East Stroudsburg, PA, the fifth child of Archer Franklin Siptroth and Marion Serfass Siptroth. She graduated from East Stroudsburg High School in 1945 and worked with the Red Cross during WWII. Freda married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Richard Joyce, in 1947 following his service in the Navy in WWII. They had one daughter, Lana Marie Joyce Rahn. A loyal and devoted employee, Freda worked for 30 years as a bank loan officer in Stroudsburg. She and Tom retired to Modoc Shores, SC in 1994 to be near their daughter, son-in-law and their three grandchildren. A woman of strong faith, Freda participated for many years in Bible Study Fellowship and was a member of Modoc Baptist Church, where she was active in the choir. She participated in many church activities, enjoyed playing card games with friends and family, and volunteered within her community at Helping Hands for many years. Freda was preceded in death by her brother Franklin (Florence), her sisters Vernetta Bellis (Ed), Doris Kishpaugh (Dick) and Alma Siptroth. She is survived by her beloved husband of 75 years, Thomas, and her daughter, Lana Rahn (Dan) of Evans, GA. She adored her grandchildren, Jason Rahn (Marlie) of Seneca, SC, Rebecca Vahrenwald (Scott) of Evans, GA and Zachary Rahn of Denver, CO and her great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Lydia Vahrenwald and Taylor Rahn, who brought great joy to her life. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and dear friends. The family wishes to extend a special heart-felt thanks to Camellia Walk Assisted Living, Agape Care Hospice, and Home Instead Senior Care for their gentle and kind care and support during the final days of her life. A private funeral service will be held for the family at Modoc Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Freda’s honor to Modoc Baptist Church, Modoc SC or to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia.
