On the afternoon of May 19, 2021 Gary Ray Jones, loving father of four children passed away at 79.

Gary was born to Marvin & Norma Jones. He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class, Non-Commissioned Officer, in Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic. He retired as a distinguished member of the Federal Aviation Community as a long-time Designated Air Worthiness Representative and mentor of aviation professionals at Standard Aero. Gary was a Husband, Father, Mentor, and a certified “Mr. Fix it.” Airplanes, motorcycles, and cars were his passion. He enjoyed woodworking, country music, westerns and the loyalty of his 3 rescue dogs.

Gary was married to Carol Jones for 50 years. He is survived by their children Chris Algeo (wife Mary), Carrie Jones, Craig Jones (wife Gina). Also, his sisters Delores and Linda and grandchildren Rachel and Ryan. Gary is preceded in death by sister, Ramona Metcalf, wife, Carol Jones, and daughter, Sheri Luthi (and husband Gregg).

The celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 P.M., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Augusta Humane Society in Honor of Gary.
