Martinez, GA – Entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, Mr. Gerald Wayne Davis, 78, loving husband of 48 years to Mrs. Carol Able Davis.

A native of Binghamton, NY, Mr. Davis lived most of his adult life in Augusta while serving at Fort Gordon in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, where he retired after 24 years. He graduated from Augusta College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Davis worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail handler for over 20 years. He was a former member of Grace Baptist and most recently was a member of Abilene Baptist, where he enjoyed singing in the choir at both churches. In his spare time, he loved golf, completing puzzles, and his time spent at Sunrise Grill. He was a loving and devoted soldier, husband, father and grandfather.

Family members, in addition to his wife include his children: Jimmie Davis, Cynthia King (David) and Debra Allsup (Steve); grandchildren: Ashleigh King, Kerri King, MacKenna Allsup, Eli Allsup, James Davis and Johnny Davis; siblings: Ron Davis, Alan Davis and Linda Davis and many other loving family members. He was predeceased by his parents: Frank Davis and Beverly Davis Focht; granddaughter: Kaitlyn “Katie” Lee Ridenour and sister: Charleen Davis.

A private family service was held in his honor.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Dementia Association, 106 SRP Drive, Suite A, Evans, GA 30809. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at Madison Heights Assisted Living – Monroe Building and Windermere Nursing Home – 4 East Hall for the kindness, compassion, and care given to him.
