CSM Halford K. Hales, U.S. Army (Ret.)

November 10, 1939 - January 23, 2022

Evans, GA – Entered into rest on Sunday, January 23, 2022, CSM Halford Kelly Hales U.S. Army (Ret), 82, loving husband of 60 years to Mrs. Sue Threet Hales. Kelly was born in Broadway, NC. He enlisted in the US Army at the age of 18. CSM Hales was a Vietnam Combat Veteran and received many awards and decorations including Legion of Merit (1OLC), Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge and others too numerous to mention. Kelly was a proud member of First Baptist Church of Augusta and the Cason Bruker Bible Class. Family members in addition to his wife include his daughter: Denise Osborn (Jeff); son: Steve Hales (Angela) and the late Joseph Kelly Hales (Teresa); grandchildren: Hunter Osborn, Dara Hales, Connor Grantham, Harrison Osborn and Russell Mathison. The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 2:00 P.M in the Storey Chapel of First Baptist Church of Augusta with Rev. Craig Baynham and Dr. Rodger Murchison officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Cason Bruker Bible Class. Memorial contributions may be made to Forces United, 701 Greene Street, Suite 104, Augusta, GA 30901 or to Camp Rainbow, 1446 Harper Street BT1847 Augusta, GA 30912. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M.
