Jacalyn “Jackie” Hughes

Augusta, GA – Jackie was born December 6, 1954 and left this Earth on Sunday, December 16, 2018.

Jackie was a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner for all of her career. She worked in many forms of nursing: OBGYN, Medical, Surgical, Family Practice and Public Health. Jackie had a great sense of adventure which led her to live and work in Saudi Arabia for three years. From there, she explored that part of the world, but returned to Augusta to continue her practice of nursing.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, George T. and Martha L. Hughes.
She is survived by her sister, Karen J. Hughes, her brother, Derrick Hughes and cousins, David Luckey, Ron McCarthy and Miriam Pauley, and her four legged best friend, Jesse.

Jackie met no stranger, for they soon became a friend, which for her meant a friend forever. Everyone will remember her great laugh.

She leaves behind a special group of friends; Connie & Leigh Bien, their children, Thomas and Julia; Lydia Cavanaugh and her children, David and Georgia Cavanaugh, her much loved God Daughter; Randy Cain and Aprile D. Melton.

Surely, all of her faithful pets have greeted her with many dog kisses and hugs. Donations in her memory may be made to Augusta Animal Services, 4164 Mack Lane, Augusta, GA 30906.

To honor Jackie and her love for all things gardening and flowers, please wear something bright and colorful to her service.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son, with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating.
