James Allen Hill

Beech Island, SC – Mr. James A. “Jimmy” Hill, age 73, entered into rest in his home surrounded by his family, Saturday, December 11, 2021.

James, “ Jimmy the Hill”, “Jitt”, was born in Augusta, GA and a longtime resident of Jackson, SC. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran and retiree of the Reactors & Diesel Service Departments at the Savannah River Site. Jimmy loved his family, friends, bear hugs, fast cars, fishing & Elvis. He never met a stranger and was always the life of the party. He especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and they adored their “Grandpa Jimmy”. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Thomas C. and Julia (Parks) Hill as well as his brothers Danny Hill and Jerry Hill.

Survivors include his beloved Sneaky Dog, three daughters and two sons-in-law: Laurie Grubbs (Lannis) of Beech Island, SC, Melynda Slay (Sam) of Cary, NC and Tommie Hare of Jackson, SC; grandchildren: Janna Ennis (Mikey), Robert Posey, Tylor Hill, Dylan LaVallee, Harrison Slay and Savannah Slay; great-grandchildren: Michael Ennis, Kaiden Ennis, Jaida Ennis, Jaxen Posey and Aislynn Key; sisters: Rose Leonard-Walker, Beverly Carter (Billy); brother: Mike Hill (Francis) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M.

Jimmy will be laid to rest at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC at a later date.
