Martinez, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, November 7, 2018, Dr. James P. Hill, DDS, 80, loving husband of Mrs. Mary Price Hill.
Dr. Hill was born in McMinnville, TN, the oldest of three children to parents, Ollie Keaton Hill and James Polk Hill, Sr. He graduated from Irving College High School and joined the Air Force in 1955. As Airman First Class he attended Armstrong College in Savannah, GA at night completing his under graduate degree. Dr. Hill married Mary Lynn Price in 1959 and went on to attend the University of Tennessee Dental School from 1961-1965. He worked at Gracewood State Hospital until he began his private practice. Dr. Hill was elected to the Georgia State House of Representatives in 1985 and served one term. He continued private practice until retiring in 2001. Dr. Hill loved the outdoors, working on his land and playing golf. He was always trying to perfect his golf game and was rightfully proud of his three hole in ones.
Survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Hill; sisters Dr. Sammie Hill and Rita Hill Walling of McMinville, TN; daughter, Michele Garrett and son-in-law, Richard of Richland, WA; grandchildren Branden Garrett (Laura) of Olympia, WA, Ben Garrett of Richland and Ivy Garrett of Richland, WA; great grandchildren, Colbie Garrett and Cooper Garrett of Olympia, WA.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Hebron Church of Christ Cemetery in Irving College, TN with Rev. Arthur Pigman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
