Jean Gardner

Martinez, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, Mrs. Jean Hilger Gardner, 75, loving wife of Dr. F. Michael Gardner.

Jean was an Army wife who could unpack an entire home in 1 day and did it over 10 times over her husbands’ military career. She was lovingly known as Martha Jean by her daughters because of her many skills in the kitchen, garden and home. She had a knack for decorating, could whip up many culinary delights and was a Master Gardener with a beautiful yard that bloomed all year round. Over the last 10 years she was the co-pilot of the kitchen and the lay worship leader at her church.

Family members in addition to her husband include two daughters: Bryn Gardner Hamilton (Bill) and Wendy Gardner (Renee); grandchildren: Will Hamilton and Wesley Hamilton; and sisters: Barbara Hilger Delucia and Elizabeth Hilger Parker. She was preceded in death by her parents Dale and Catherine Hilger.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 27, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Julia Crim officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lift Music Fund at www.liftmusicfund.org
