Joyce Idoni

Augusta, GA – Mrs. Joyce K. Idoni, 96, peacefully went to be with her Lord on July 8, 2018. She was the wife of her beloved Joseph P. Idoni, who welcomed her to Heaven.

Mrs. Idoni was born in Lamont, Wisconsin and lived in Argyle, Wisconsin until leaving to attend Whitewater College. Soon after marrying, she and Joe moved to Florida to raise their family. They later settled in Augusta, Georgia for many years until moving back to Florida. In Gulf Breeze, Florida, Joyce was an Executive Secretary for the Escambia County School District. She was an active member and choir participant at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Idoni returned to Augusta and has resided in Evans, Georgia at beautiful Brandon Wilde Retirement Community, where she developed many dear and lasting friendships. She was known for her love of all people - it was her delight to play the piano and sing for all of the residents of Brandon Wilde. She was a friend to all, full of life and love. Her life was marked by being strong in Joy.

Family members who are blessed by her memory and abundant love of family include: Michele Barfield (Bill) of Augusta, Laurie Faulkner (Alan) of Augusta, Dana Holcombe (Tommy) of Birmingham,AL and Michael Idoni (Trish) of Pensacola, FL. In addition, Mrs. Idoni had 11 grandchildren, Bill Barfield III (Robin), Ben Barfield (Kerri), Mark Barfield, Jason Faulkner (Anne), Katie Coleman (Sean), Paul Holcombe (Emily), Patrick Holcombe (Emily), Laurie Ann Kendrick (Rainer), Nicole Sigman (JC), Jonathon Idoni (Chelsey), Mallory Idoni and 27 great-grandchildren to carry on her amazing legacy. She was affectionately called Momdoni by all her family.

At a date to be announced, the family will host a Celebration of Life at Brandon Wilde. For all her many friends, staff and caregivers, her family is most appreciative.

A private family funeral gathering will be held at a later date in Pensacola Beach, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored with memorials made to The Big Oak Ranch, a Christian Home for Children needing a Chance, in Springville, Alabama.

In Loving Memory:

My Mom, she is in Glory Land, she flew on angels’ wings,
a streak of golden stars upon her Crown.
My King, He stepped to greet her and gathered her to Him,
A long awaited Heavenly embrace.
She looked upon His face and then upon his hands,
And saw her name written on His palm.
With awe and Love, she raised her hands and danced for Him-
her Savior whom she had loved for years.
She runs and twirls, just like a child
And fullness fills her heart.

She is home.
