Kenneth "Pops" Glenville Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Kenneth “Pops” Glenville, 85, of Augusta, Georgia passed away peacefully at his home on May 16, 2022, after a brief but aggressive battle with cancer. “Pops”, as he was known for years was born on January 16, 1937, in the Boston, MA area where he lived until joining the navy after high school. Over the years “Pops” called many places home before settling in Augusta including Mystic, CT, Berwick, PA, Royersford, PA, LaSalle, MI, Phoenix, AZ, and several other locations. “Pops” retired from the nuclear industry, but for many years also maintained a secondary living as an amateur golfer after being a club pro and had many 2nd and 3rd jobs throughout his life. Some may remember him as a bartender at the VFW in Augusta where he enjoyed hearing tales from the veterans. His golfing legacy is legendary – he qualified as a Class A member of the PGA, had an astounding 11 holes-in-one to his credit, and has won countless club championships throughout the country. “Pops” was also a fan of all sports, with teams from Boston or New England being his favorites. His love for all things Irish was always in full display due to his heritage as the child of a young Irish immigrant, in fact he could often be seen on St. Patrick’s Day sporting Kelly Green from head to toe – including green dye on his head and in his beard! “Pops” had 7 children with his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Carol Sawicki Glenville. After Carol’s death in 2007 he married Sherry Ashworth Glenville, originally from Rumford, ME in 2011 with whom he shared the remainder of his life until his passing. Besides his wife Carol, “Pops” joins his birthmother Bridget Alice Glenville, his long-time foster mother M. Catherine Adams, his daughter Patricia Kay Glenville, and son Mark Steven Glenville who predeceased him. He is survived by his wife Sherry, his sister Maggi Heyer, and his 5 remaining children and their families: Brian (son) & Tammy Glenville, Kathi (daughter) & Doug Mills, Kenneth (son) & Karen Glenville, Sean Glenville (son), and Erin Quattlebaum (daughter), along with his 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life for “Pops” is being planned for July 16, 2022 from 3:00 until 7:00 P.M., at Jones Creek Country Club in Evans, GA.
