Mrs. Lessie Jo Hillis Woo of Evans, Georgia, entered her heavenly home on Thursday, April 7, 2022. Born on June 29, 1932, in Waynesboro, Georgia. She graduated from Waynesboro High School and moved to Augusta.
Lessie met and married Madison T. Woo and they enjoyed sixty-two years together before his passing in 2012. Together they operated several businesses including two neighborhood grocery stores, a convenience store and several Chinese restaurants.
Lessie was a devoted Christian who lived her faith in all aspects of her life. She has been a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. She served in many roles there including teacher of Sunday School classes for adults and children, a chairperson and member of various committees, as well as holding office in the local, district and state levels of the United Methodist Women organization.
Family members include her children: Linda Woo Bellamy of Charlotte, North Carolina; Madison "Kenny" Woo (Kristina) of Pawley's Island, South Carolina; Cindy Woo Pollard (Andy) of Appling, Georgia. Grandchildren: Abby Arnold (Scott); Dr. Rebecca Woo Floyd (Dan); Lt. Col. Madison "Matt" Woo (Heather); John Benjamin Woo (Sara), Charles Andrew Woo (Kat); Levi A. Pollard, VI; Lucy Pollard Knapik (Will) and thirteen great grandchildren as well as a sister Georgia Holland. In addition to her husband, Lessie was preceded in death by her grandson Allen C. Bellamy, III.
Celebrating the life of Lessie a service will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son. Rev. Thurman Norville will be officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
