Augusta, Ga. – Entered into rest Friday, August 21, 2020, Mrs. Margie Grace Grant Howard, beloved wife of 51 years to the late John R. “Johnny” Howard, Sr.

Mrs. Howard was a native of Johnson County, GA, but had lived in Columbia County for the last 60 years. She was a Baptist. She retired from City of Augusta as the first female secretary of the Augusta Fire Department.

Survivors include her daughters: Patricia Lynn Hunter and Jan Howard Lamb (Lester) of Martinez; son: John R. Howard, Jr. (Cathy), also of Martinez; grandchildren: Brad Burnett (Shannon), Chris Hunter (Diana), Patrick Hunter, Tony Lamb (Haley),Travis Lamb, Jason Howard, Ashley William, and Amanda Gunn; great-grandchildren: Anna and Emery Howard Burnett, Christopher and Austin Hunter, Jassamyn, Marissa, Nolan, Dalton, and Victoria Howard, Grace and Dastin Gunn, and Kingston Lamb; brothers: Billy Grant of Meeks, GA and Sammy Grant of Beech Island, SC; several nieces and nephews which she loved, and a special sister-in-law: Gale Grant.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 23, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Shawn Edenfield officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brad Burnett, Tony Lamb, Patrick Hunter, Chris Hunter, Jason Howard, Travis Lamb, and Emery Burnett.
