MARILYN LUCILLE TRANTER GARLAND

Evans, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, September 1, 2019, Mrs. Marilyn Lucille Tranter Garland, 88, devoted wife of the late Rev. George L. Garland, Jr. (LTC, U.S. Army Ret.) and a native of Scotia, NY.

Mrs. Garland was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A proud matriarch, the joy of her life was being surrounded by her large family. She was a supportive pastor’s wife to her husband while he served as Minister of Music and Youth at Hillcrest and Fleming Baptist Churches. After retiring from Southern Bell, she enjoyed traveling, reading, and crafts. But most of all, she loved relaxing at the beach.

Family members include seven children: Steven H. Garland (LTC, U.S. Army Ret.) (Yvonne); Peter Garland (DSC, U.S. Navy Ret.) (Dee); Sally Bailey (Blane); Terri Jeffcoat (Steve); Michelle Meier (Jon); Becky Moore (Scott); Richard Garland (Gail); 18 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren; and many other loving family members. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Winifred Tranter and her siblings, Lionel Tranter, Ronald Tranter and Doris Tranter VanBuren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet and Son Chapel with Reverend Dan Rosser officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
