They were married in 1957 and enjoyed fifty-seven years of devoted life together until the time of her husband’s death. They moved to Augusta, Georgia in 1961 and lived there happily for the duration of their lives. Mrs. Key was very active in the First Baptist Church of Augusta, Georgia where she served as WMU President, taught Sunday School classes, worked on numerous church committees, and rocked babies in the church nursery. She was also a member of, and enjoyed her time with, the “Gracious Ladies of Georgia” organization. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a devoted and loyal friend who will be fondly remembered and forever cherished. On Friday, January 8, 2021, her casket will roll down the center aisle in the Sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Augusta, Georgia, for her final visit to her beloved Church. Due to the recent spike in coronavirus infections, the funeral service will be a private family affair. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Augusta, Georgia.
