Augusta, GA – On Sunday, December 30, 2018, Richard was called by Jesus, his savior, from his earthly home to his eternal home with God.
He is survived by his loving children Terri Long and husband Raleigh, Andrea Fender, and Richard Fender, Jr., 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Richard was a native of Augusta, GA. He graduated from Richmond Academy. He attended Augusta Jr. College, University of South Carolina, and graduated from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1956 and placed 7th in his class of 74 students. He practiced general dentistry for 37 years. He was a member of the Augusta Country Club, Kiwanis Club, and Delta Sigma Delta Social Fraternity.
He enjoyed golf, tennis, water skiing, snow skiing, bowling, bridge, horseback riding, and flying. He soloed a piper J-3 and after four hours and forty five minutes of instruction. He was also a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Richard served three and a half years in the United States Public Health Service.
Per Richards’s request, the family will have a private memorial service at Brandon Wilde.
