Robert “Gordon” Huff, Jr.

Martinez, GA - Robert "Gordon" Huff, Jr., 83, husband of Nancy Howard Huff, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Church of the Good Shepherd with The Reverend Dr. J. Andrew Menger officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Gordon, a native and lifelong resident of Augusta was the son of the late Robert G. Huff, Sr. and Louise Merritt Huff. He was a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County and a 1957 graduate of University of Georgia, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity serving as president his senior year. Soon after graduation he was drafted into the US Army and served until 1959. Upon his discharge he returned to work for his father who owned and operated Augusta Foundry, Inc. In 1965 Gordon became president of the company until his retirement in 1999. He served on the board of directors of The Augusta Training Shop for over 26 years (after agreeing to a 3 year term) including a number of years as board president. In 2003 he was honored by Junior Achievement as one of the local professionals that were inducted into the CSRA Business Hall of Fame. He was a former member of Summerville Exchange Club and served as their president from 1992-1993. He was also an active volunteer on the Alzheimer's Committee.

Gordon was a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd for over 55 years serving on the vestry for a number of years.

Augusta knew Gordon and Gordon knew Augusta - he never met a stranger. He dined out breakfast, lunch and dinner to see and socialize with as many folks as possible. He loved better than anything spending time with his family and friends.
