Terry Bentley

Augusta, GA – Mr. Judson Terry Bentley, husband of Jerrie Nye Bentley, died on Friday, November 26, 2021.

Mr. Bentley was born in Augusta on July 13, 1938, the son of the late James Judson and Beatrice King Bentley. He was a 1956 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County and a 1960 graduate of Emory University where he was a member of Sigma Chi. He was co-owner of Bentley Brothers Furniture Company for thirty years and retired from AT&T as Resource Manager. During his retirement years he served as a sales consultant at Westover Memorial Park.

He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where he sang in the Chancel Choir and directed the “Good News Gospel Singers”.

He is survived by his daughters: Carolyn B. Cannon (Chris) of Martinez, GA and Kellett Bentley Taylor (Keith) of Grovetown, GA; grandsons: Christopher Cannon (Shelby), Matthew Cannon and Zachary Weldon; sister: Mrs. Bonnie Perry (Steve). Mr. Bentley is preceded in death by his wife Clemmie Steinhauer Bentley; son: John Judson Bentley; sisters: Mrs. Jewell Childress (Freddie) and Ms. Beverly Bentley.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. Brett DeHart officiating. A private burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3185 Wheeler Road, Augusta, GA 30909.
