Wanda Roper

Augusta, Ga – Wanda Weatherford Roper began a new existence with her Lord on Friday, February 11, 2022. She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel A. and Teresa J. Weatherford. She is survived by her husband, Ralph W. Roper III, and her son, Stephen W. Roper.

Wanda was a member of the last class of Mount St. Joseph Academy. She was married at Kessler Air Force Base and was a dutiful wife. She followed her husband to Chateauroux, France, where she joined the Ladies Sodality at the base chapel. She also taught in the chapel CCD program. Later, she was active in the Officers Wives Club at Charleston AFB, SC; Norton AFB, CA; Atlus AFB, OK; and Travis AFB, CA.

After returning to Augusta, she became active in her parish of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, where she was a Sacristan and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. She always loved the Lord and did her best to service him as best as she could. She will be missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

The family would like to thank all those who treated her and supported her through her long battle with multiple myeloma.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Ross celebrant. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
