Evans, GA. - Entered into rest on Saturday, November 8, 2025, Andy Clare Reese, 83, loving husband of Alice Reese.
Andy was born in Coffeeville, KS to the late Clarence and Rubye Reese.
Family members, in addition to his wife of 60 years, include his brother, Gary Reese of Dewey, OK, his sister, Dixie Brown of Bartlesville, OK, nieces Pam Cramer, of Bartlesville, OK and Karen Brown of Savannah, GA, nephews Scott Reese of Wann, OK and Roger Brown of Troy, ID, great-nieces Shelbi Wood of Wann, OK, Cayla Scott of Bartlesville, OK and Whitley Pollet of Austin, TX, great-nephews Josh Cramer of Bartlesville, OK, Zach Cramer of Copan, OK, Jared Reese of Colorado Springs, CO and Daimon Brown of Savannah, GA, seven great-great nieces and four great-great nephews. Nephew Kelly Reese predeceased Andy.
Andy received his BS in Chemistry from the University of Oklahoma, his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Missouri and his post-graduate work in Immunology from Case Western Reserve University. He worked one year at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City before moving to Augusta to join the faculty in the Department of Biochemistry at the Medical College of Georgia. Andy did research and taught Immunology from 1975 - 2000 when he retired. During that time, he co-authored two computer assisted educational programs; Immunology and Medical Ethics.
Andy read a wide range of topics and enjoyed music, especially Jazz. He supported the arts and served as president of the Augusta Players twice. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church where he served in leadership roles including as a Ministry Associate for a few years and was a board member of the Southeast District.
His interest in Spirituality led to publishing two books, "Rational Spirituality" and "Religious Humanism: The Good Life Lived in Community" co-authored with Peter Kandis.
Andy tried to make the world a better place wherever he went. He was a founding member of the Interfaith Fellowship of Augusta and had a leadership role in the Progressive Religious Coalition that sponsors the Martin Luther King Celebration each year. He leaves behind many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Augusta on December 6, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.
