Ashley Nichole Curtis, age 37, entered into the presence of her Savior on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. Her final months were spent surrounded by the family and friends she loved so fiercely.
Ashley was born in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, and later made her home in Grovetown, Georgia. From a young age, she carried a vibrant faith and a tender heart, growing into a woman whose life reflected her love for Jesus Christ in every season.
She married her best friend, Jonathan Curtis, and for twenty years they built a life marked by devotion, partnership, and unwavering commitment. Ashley embraced her calling as a wife with joy, first as an Air Force wife, proudly displaying a sign that read, “It is not my status…it is my lifelong promise to him,” and later transitioning with grace into the role of a pastor’s wife. She supported Jonathan’s ministry with humility, strength, and a servant’s heart.
Ashley poured her life into her family. She homeschooled her daughters, Savannah and Sarah, and often wore her favorite shirt that read, “Mom, Wife, Homeschool Life,” a simple but perfect reflection of the roles she cherished most. She was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend – steadfast, nurturing, and full of quiet courage.
Her faith remained her anchor through every step of her illness. Ashley trusted God’s sovereignty, clung to His promises, and continued to radiate grace even in the hardest moments. Her favorite verse, one that sustained her throughout her life, was Psalm 23:6: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” These words reflected the hope she carried and the peace she found in her Savior. Her life was a testimony of perseverance, love, and unwavering belief in her Savior.
She is survived by her loving husband, Pastor Jonathan Curtis; her daughters, Savannah and Sarah; her parents, Craig and Tammy Newkirk; her brother, Craig Newkirk Jr.; her grandparents, William and Josephine Horst and Arlene Burkus; her mother in law, Elizabeth Turner; and many other cherished family members and friends who will carry her memory forward.
Ashley’s legacy is one of faithfulness: faithfulness to God, to her family, and to the calling placed on her life. Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, her steadfast love, and the quiet strength that marked her journey.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 2, 2026 in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors with her husband, Pastor Jonathan Curtis, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A live stream may be viewed at https://together.oneroomstreaming.com/QNMVY8
