Mrs. Barbara Mills Kuhlke, 81, wife of the late Dessey Landrum Kuhlke, entered into rest peacefully at home on January 27, 2026.
Barbara was born in Atlanta, GA and was the daughter of the late Mr. G Robert Mills, Jr. and Mrs. Mary Mae Wells Mills. She attended Druid Hills High School and afterwards moved to Augusta, GA where she met the love of her life Dessey. They were married for 53 years and were blessed with three children. Barbara enjoyed life to the fullest and truly embraced traveling and was blessed to travel worldwide. She was an avid tennis player and golfer and a Life Master bridge player, often traveling to competitions. Throughout her life, Barbara cherished being a wife, mother, grandmother (Mimi), mother-in-law and aunt. Everyone who knew her, knew she would never go out of the house without lipstick on and her hair fixed to perfection. There was always a hairbrush in the kitchen drawer ready for use prior to going out. She will always be remembered with a smile for the many times she would say in her southern voice, “Kathy, brush your hair.”
Barbara was a member of Trinity on the Hill Global Methodist Church, a former member of Hillside Garden Club and Augusta Country Club.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Dessey, her two sons, Brian Mills Kuhlke, David Landrum Kuhlke, grandson Franklin Cabot Kuhlke and brother Samuel Earl Mills.
She is survived and will forever be cherished by her daughter Kathy Kuhlke Allman (Harry), grandchildren Mary Kate Burgamy, Sarah Ann Burgamy, Lillie Katherine Burgamy, Ellen Kuhlke Cowper and brother Robert Wilson Mills (Joan) along with multiple nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 2nd at 11:00 AM at Trinity on the Hill Global Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Hearn and Rev. Roy McVeigh officiating. Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the service in the church gathering area. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
