Betty Jean Gordon Phelps

Martinez, GA – Betty Jean Gordon Phelps, 57 years old, went home to be with her Lord April 24, 2026, at Piedmont Hospital.

Born on April 10, 1969 in Hopkinsville, KY to Wallace and Joyce (Gordon) Sapp. She graduated from Curtis High School and Aiken Technical College with a Graphic Arts Degree. She owned The Bloom Closet Florist for twenty-one years, finding her passion in flowers. She dedicated herself to always serving her customers. She loved art and crafts.

Betty Jean is survived by her husband Chris Phelps; parents: Wallace and Joyce Gordon Sapp of Waynesboro, GA; nephew: Michael Walraven (Rebecca) of Evans, GA; great-nephews and great-nieces: Jacob, Carmen, Daniel, and Joe.

Betty Jean was preceded in death by her birthfather: Wayne D. Gordon; grandparents: Lucian and Inez Gordon of Hopkinsville, KY; grandparents: Ewing and Beulah Hancock of Greenfield, IN.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
