Augusta, GA - Betty Jean Murrah, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully departed this earthly realm on February 27, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on May 31, 1932 in Trenton, SC to Clyde and Bessie Pruitt. Betty's life was marked by grace, kindness, and a strong faith in Jesus Christ.
An embodiment of warmth and kindness, Betty brought joy to those around her through infectious laughter and love. As a devoted partner, mother, and grandmother, she created a home filled with enduring memories. Betty not only loved her family but was also a strong, passionate, and fiercely independent lady. She was extremely protective of those she loved, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all fortunate enough to know her.
A successful business owner, Betty proudly managed "Betty's Lounge" for many years—a place where people could come and feel love and a sense of community.
Outside of family and work, Betty took pleasure in working in her garden, cooking Sunday dinner for her family, and passing down her cherished family recipes to her daughter and granddaughter. In her leisure time, she loved the beach, enjoyed trips to casinos and the thrill of slot machines. Betty had a special fondness for animals, particularly her dogs, whom she lovingly referred to as "her puppies."
Betty lived with a profound assurance that, upon leaving this world, she would be reunited with her Savior. As we mourn her passing, we find solace in knowing that Betty is now at peace, embraced by the loving arms of Jesus.
Betty Jean Murrah is survived by her sons: David Murrah (Karen Greiner) and Jim Bauer; daughters: Judy Entz (John Entz) and Sissy Murrah and grandchildren: Macie Holstein, Nathan Boschmann, Roland Boschmann and Darrick Boschmann and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son: Joseph B. Murrah, Jr.; her longtime companion: Bob German and brothers: Clyde William Pruitt and Broadus Pruitt.
A memorial service to honor Betty's life and celebrate her reunion with Jesus will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
If so desired memorial contributions may be made to your local animal shelter.
The family expresses gratitude for the support and condolences received during this challenging time. Betty's memory will endure in the hearts of those she touched, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her Savior. Betty leaves behind a legacy of strength, passion, and independence, and the world is undeniably better for her being in it.
