Bruce G. Alford, Sr.

Bruce Gilbert Alford Sr., 82, of Martinez, Georgia entered into rest on June 12, 2026.

Bruce was born to Richard and Iris Alford on September 21, 1943, in Gaskin, Florida. Bruce was a devoted husband of 51 years, a loving father and Papa to his grandchildren. He was a member of Warren Baptist Church. He was kind, patient, and worked tirelessly to provide for his family.

 He was a gentle soul that always offered wisdom, life lessons, or had a meaningful story to tell. He loved nothing better than family time, vacations to the Smoky Mountains and journeys out west on his Harley.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the Air Force as an electronics technician working on B52s. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a mechanic after 30 years. His favorite pastime was building and servicing Harley Davidson motorcycles over six decades.

Bruce is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Alford; parents, Richard and Iris Alford; and younger brother, Richard Keith Alford.

He is survived by his children: Rebecca Mae Hoggard (Steven) and their children, Braeden & Brynlee Hoggard; Richard Jason Alford (Amanda), Bruce G. Alford, Jr.; grandchildren: Tyler Alford (Amanda), McKenzie Colley (Ryan), Bo Alford (Annabelle), great grandchildren, and his sister, Sue Thorn (Leonard).

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 2:30 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Lane Lowery officiating. The family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:30 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Georgia Cancer Center – Ring the Bell of Hope.
