Carol Ann Nicotra Hayes

Martinez, GA – Carol Ann (Nicotra) Hayes, 83, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, following a ten-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born January 19, 1943, in Hingham, Massachusetts, Carol was known for her warm spirit, vibrant personality, and deep devotion to family. Proud of her Italian heritage, she loved cooking and sharing meals with family and friends, especially her homemade pasta sauce.

Carol shared a loving life with her husband, John Joseph Hayes. Together they built a home centered on faith, family, and tradition. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Earlier in life, she also courageously overcame breast cancer.

She is survived by her husband, John Joseph Hayes; her children, Jim Olson (MaryEllen), Tammy Mitchell, Sean Hayes (Meaghan), and Shannon Whitwell; and her grandchildren, Sage, Genevieve & John; Lena & Lena; Aaron; Lucca, Giuliana, & Nico.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Thomas Poteet & Sons Funeral Directors in Augusta. A Memorial Mass celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2026, at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church in Augusta.
