Charlotte Ann Little, 83, of Martinez, Georgia, entered the presence of her Lord on October 9, 2024, at Piedmont Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. Charlotte is survived by her son Rusty and spouse, Rhonda, and grandson Tradd, of Greenville, South Carolina; her son Kevin and spouse, Lee, and Granddaughters Reese and Carys, of North Augusta, South Carolina; and her son Gary and grandson Andrew, of Evans, Georgia. She was a long-time member of Abilene Baptist Church.
Charlotte was born on April 16, 1941, to Charles Woodrow Wilson (named after the late President) and Laura Anna Marshall Wilson in Atlanta, Georgia. She grew up in Atlanta with one sibling, Beverly Clark. As a teen, she began attending meetings with a youth group known as Atlanta Youth for Christ. This altered her life’s path in two significant ways that shaped and predominated her life until her passing. First, Charlotte in the truest sense dedicated her life to her faith in Christ and, perhaps like no other, never veered even slightly from her commitment to her faith. Every day, she wore the joy of her faith on her face with a light she could not hide. Second, through the influence of Youth for Christ, she attended Bob Jones University, a private Christian college in Greenville, South Carolina, where she began dating Floyd King Little. The love she grew with King was profound and enduring. They were married for 58 years, until King’s homegoing December 31, 2020. It seemed that few conversations escaped mention of King, who she adored.
Not especially tall, Charlotte was affectionately dubbed “Littlebit,” a moniker accurately reflecting her size and email address, but not her tenacity or huge impact on those around her. Notwithstanding many obstacles growing up, as an adult Charlotte sought and found ways to touch many lives in big ways, beginning at home with her family. After raising her children, she became a federal investigator for the Office of Personnel Management and served as a US Department of Energy Security Officer. She retired and then, in her mid-sixties, she returned to BJU to complete her college education (held in abeyance while raising her family) and then obtained a master’s degree. She began a Biblical counseling mission, was certified by The Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, and ultimately helped hundreds of families in need – serving continuously as a counselor until just days before her passing.
Nothing in this life made Charlotte happier than being next to King, her children and grandchildren, other family, and her close friends. She served and spoiled them all ridiculously, missing no opportunity to visit for any reason, attend a grandchild’s event, converse by a fire, buy the right gift, create an amazing meal or cake, take insane amounts of pictures to memorialize it all, and otherwise show love and kindness. Charlotte savored life. She wanted everyone to enjoy what she knew so well, sharing her Life’s Bible Verse: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is set on Thee because he trusts in Thee.” Isaiah 26:3.
A service celebrating Charlotte’s life will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Greg Huffman, Dr. Brad Whitt and Pastor Tripp Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow in Abilene Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bob Jones University, 1700 Wade Hampton Blvd., Greenville, SC 29614.
