In loving memory of Cheryl Pless Bagby
Our beloved mother, Cheryl Bagby, will be remembered for her generous spirit, social nature, inclusiveness, and vibrant joy. Born in Atlanta, Georgia on December 27, 1947, she impacted many lives until her passing on November 18, 2025.
Cheryl had many nicknames throughout her life: Slim, Lead-foot, Cher, and was lovingly called “Yia Yia” by her grandchildren. Her Greek heritage and upbringing showed in many ways from her recipes and culinary talent to dancing through the house to her constant encouragement for us to “eat more.”
Cheryl’s creativity shone in designing ceramic jewelry, holiday decorations, and spending time in her flower gardens at her longtime home on Henry Street. She cherished her friends, and her love for her children and grandchildren was always evident. As the Fashion Board Director at Augusta Mall, many young people learned modeling from her and participated in her fashion shows. She was also known for her involvement in PEO, her garden club, and bridge club, as well as working as a realtor for Blanchard and Calhoun later in life.
Cheryl is survived by her children, Britton Bagby Wren (Mac) and H. Clay Bagby, IV (Christy); grandchildren, Anders Wren, Brooks Wren, Huck Bagby (Rebekah), Alex Bagby, Zeke Bagby, and Tate Bagby; and former husband, H. Clay Bagby, III. She was predeceased by her adored parents, Agnes Pappas Pless and James Monroe Pless, and Jesse, Summerville’s favorite black lab.
A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held in the chapel at St. Paul’s Church on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 10:30am with a reception to follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Young Life Georgia, PO Box 7753, Marietta, GA 30065.
